It pays to rework a painting if something's bothering you. This had large rocks behind the seashells, nasty lumps of seaweed and driftwood in the front. My tendency to overload with content got the upper hand. I went back in and painted over the bad stuff and it really opened up the painting and it got accepted into the American Artists Professional League 83rd Grand National Exhibiton. The exhibit runs from Nov. 1--11th, 2011. The reception is on Sun., Nov. 6th from 2 to 5pm at the Salmagundi Club, 47 Fifth Ave., NYC, NY 10003. The gallery is open daily from 1 to 6pm.
I'll have to look for a photo of the before image so you can see the changes.
Happy Painting!
Nancy
