Oil, 8" x 10" Nancy Wernersbach copyright 2009
A great way to sell your art and raise money for a worthy cause is to hold a benefit art sale. I had a nice show and sale this past weekend in my home and gave a donation from the sales to the NYS Breast Cancer Hotline. My neighbor volunteers for this remarkable group of women and men who give support and aid to those in need of the right answers to deal with this terrible cancer. I put an ad in my local newspaper and sent out flyers to everyone on my mailing and to my neighbors up and down the street (a nice way to meet your neighbors and let them know you're an artist). The Hotline Director, Hillary Rutter, kindly sent out emails to all her contacts regarding my show. Had a nice turnout in spite of some nasty, cold weather. The little painting on the right that I had started outdoors and finished painting at home, sold right away. Small paintings seem to sell well--everyone has a spot and a budget for a little gem. It's good to have friends on hand to help you out with sales and keeping an eye on things. Many thanks to art buddies Mary-Beth and Viv for their assistance.
Happy Painting!
Nancy
